Dear All:
Updated Material
American companies sending work to India please note this!! You ought to know that quality and TAT has also to do with HOW WELL your vendors treat their employees, are they STPI/NASSCOM/ITPL Registered, what is the company's spending on continuing MT education, how good is the company's infrastructure to get the work done to meet quality and TAT obligations, and the right wages that go with this work involving an employee's multiple organ systems and extraordinary ability to multi-task. So here is the material to help your homework before you hand out that contract to a ROGUE INDIAN VENDOR the next time!
Employers/Management personnel also need to hammer the truth in their heads that transparency in dealings does not come by merely having glass cabins and doors or having your juniors/subordinates call you by first names! You need to back up your "transparency" in kind and cash too by rewarding the honest and hardworking employees and chucking out the good for nothing ones who earn their bread by having other teammates work harder and share the burden of "Team Work"! Decisions should not be delayed until disaster! And yes, please make your exit interviews voluntary, NOT COMPULSORY! Implement it ONLY IF YOU genuinely want to learn from its contents!
Just Updated - Please Keep Checking Because I Keep Updating!
Although the contents below were posted as a reply to another thread, I thought it should benefit one and all. Hence, the same is being posted as a separate topic/new thread. If you have anything to do with medical transcription/BPO/etc. in India and want to make the very best of your career and skills, you are forewarned to stay away from following types of FIVE STAR MT Companies:
*****Companies cheating regarding line counts. Line counts are calculated WITH spaces. So number of characters WITH spaces divided by 65 is the industry/AAMT standard. I have known some Kerala (a.k.a. "GOD'S OWN COUNTRY") companies that exploit gullible employees by counting lines WITHOUT spaces!! Avoid working for such companies and show them the AAMT Book Of Style Line Count Definition!! *****Companies involved in Provident Fund fraud. This is how it works: Any employer deducting any amount other than usual taxes saying PF deductions and NOT crediting it with their contribution to Provident Fund is cheating both you and the Government of India!
A simple diagnostic test to know if you are being defrauded in the matter of provident fund is to ask for the PF account number. If they evade your questions on this on more than one occasion, PLEASE type out a complaint, get it signed by as many as are willing to cooperate in your company, hire a competent attorney who handles PF cases, and file lawsuit against your employer with copies to nearest police station, PF office, labor commission, NASSCOM, ITPL, and this forum IMMEDIATELY! You should know, there is a heavy penalty for offenses related to PF Fund. Never ever undermine the importance of a salary slip. *****Companies where a large chunk of middle management has been drawn from the same previous organization or from a field OTHER than medical transcription industry (I have known companies where the middle management comprises people from consumer goods companies!! You can imagine in what direction the company would be heading). To know more, please have your friend(s) thoroughly read my post "Why Did 70-Odd..." *****Companies that advertise excessively in newspapers or resort to spamming online discussion fora to fuel their "ambitious growth plans and massive expansion drives", like you see here!! Add to this, companies who are in URGENT need of people. The ones that ask you for paying money in any form of caution money or deposit (the work you do for them before getting paid IS THE DEPOSIT. Period!!). All these hard-selling varieties have to be carefully filtered out. *****Companies where they have not paid salaries or HT dues/paid very late for an average of 2 months at a stretch, citing all types of lame excuses under the sun, which never existed at the time you considered associating with them!! *****Companies who are learning to shoot keeping the gun on someone else's shoulders (meaning companies who solely depend on subcontracting work from other INDIAN companies) *****Companies that do not care to provide the bare minimum tools of trade, like reliable UPS System, reference material, headsets, etc., that are a must for an MT professional to complete his/her job in an 8- to 9-hour shift! *****Companies that suddenly go to extraordinary lengths to import qualified and experienced MT talents from neighboring states, promising huge salaries and accommodation and other perks, while discounting and undermining locally available talent pool! I know of a company in Navi Mumbai (a.k.a. Vashi) that had tried to import over 150 MT people from Kerala, with grandiose promises of salaries, incentives, perks, and "above industry" facilities. I believe the same company later changed its name and is back to its old ways!! *****Companies that do not issue an appointment letter within a reasonable period of your joining service, do not have clear-cut leave/holiday/compensatory off policies, and deny the employees their rightful leave/holiday/compensatory offs! *****Companies from Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Sudan. All job offers are big frauds, no matter which line of career! Not to mention the abysmal social life and social security and excessive fanaticism there! Use both hemispheres of your brain when confronted with job offers from these countries! *****Home Based MT offers with no clearcut rates, erratic job volumes, erratic timings, ever changing line rates and accounts, no clearcut contact information, very late payments, nonpayments, etc.
Do you think it is ripe and right time to look beyond just high salaries and timely payments?!

Hi Indian MT,
What you mentioned above points are very good and we have to note down each and everything. Even SPHBPO (Mumbai)is giving 80 paisa without spaces.
What is the gimmick behind without spaces? how much they will benefit?
As per my Guru (MD of big MT(80k lines daily) company), who takes deposit in MT industry is FRAUD. This is not data entry, this is medical transcription, we have to use our brain and lot of effort. Quality always plays role.
Import qualified and experienced MT talents from other states, promising huge salaries and accommodation and other perks: In hyderabad also one or two companies brought some employees from Kolkota and Orissa around 200 people within two months by flights.
What you mentioned about Navi Mumbai (a.k.a. Vashi), this company always gives ad in MTINDIA.ORG, getting people from allover India and playing games with lives of MTs and QAs.

Can anyone elaborate on the system of 'Business Development Charges' The middle man takes upfront say upto Rs. 5 - 7 lakhs. That is supposed to be the charge he takes for mediating the business between the client (doctors/clinics) and the MT firm. I was contacted by such a man a few days back. Naturally I refused. I can't afford that sort of money any way. But the question is - does MT businesses approve or deal with such people? How genuine can they be?

Bringing employees by flights from other states - WOW! That's sure a picture perfect example of what they call "above industry" employee facilities...!
Is the company still in business?! Just curious...

I would like to add another name in the list of fraud companies i.e. Staltech, a Chennai based company run by Leninraj. They r really big cheat. They dont even reciproacte when one ask for his dues. If u r north indian then they would pretend not knowing either English or Hindi. Only Tamil SIR....
Beware of these frauds n do ur best to kick them off of the MT field. They are the kind of fish which spoil the whole water.
Beware of these chores.....STALTECH...AND LENINRAJ |

Hi here's one more company to add to the list of frauds:
Honeyit which is based in Pondicherry and the concerned person's name is Pushparaj.
Their website is www.honeyit.com
He has cheated me of solid 2 months' pay giving me the excuse that he did not get paid by the client and that he was shutting down his unit but I have come to know that his unit is still running. Such people should be arrested.... |
