Hello Everyone
I am working with a 10-year-old medical transcription company. In our company, we have been working all through these years with manual allocation of files and subjection evaluation of quality. Now, realizing how competitive this industry has been getting year to year, I have been requesting our managagment that we go for automatized allocation versus stricter quality measurements and TAT control, which we are unable to do with the present setup. Though the management is quite aware of this issue, I am not able to convince the management strongly that software is indeed very crucial/essential to our existence and we have no choice there. Is there someone out there who can suggest me some strong points why an automation software is extremely essential for an MT organization handling around 10 to 15 lakhs of lines per month, as well as the name of softwares that have been known to have successfully automatized companies and reference etc.
Thank you so much

One member used to post in this forum, freesoftware_???. He claims that his software is available at a very low price. Want to try it? There must be some proprietary softwares available in the market. We use some custom made software to assess length of wav files, and for line count. File allocation is manual.

| Thank you. I am looking for the one which will show the TAT status, at least 50% automatic allocation, as well as quality measurements for each file |

Hi All,
The software mentioned here in these posts is way too expensive (around 5 to 6 lakhs I heard). Apart from that all the company data is on their servers. Plus they charge I guess an annual fee which is a recurring expense plus total slavery...!
May I suggest a good alternative (Cost below $500! - Can your employer spend this?). It may be good for work distribution and flow but may not be FULLY automatic as to provide an end-to-end solution, but then what is the harm in a semi-automatic software if it can do a good job and reduce or altogether eliminate unproductive, repetitive tasks and headaches?
Go to this link and check this out http://www.bytescribe.com/transcription.htm
For video demos of these http://www.bytescribe.com/docshuttle/videos/index.htm
They do have one-month trial version for most of their products. Please note, I have no affiliations, whatsoever, with this company and only just sharing information.
Regards,
IndianMT

Dear IndianMT,
Hope you referred to our previous post in this forum (regarding the MT-software).
We would like to clarify some more points regarding our MT-workflow management software.
TWO different software solutions are available with us:
1. The software package for out-right purchase. 2. The ASP model with work-automation software.
In the first model, any MT-company can buy the licenced software from us and can install and use it independantly in their server/PCs. There will not be any file-flow through our server in this case.
The second model (ASP) is for small/medium size MTSOs, who is not having a US-server of their-own. In this option they can use our US-server space (on rent basis) which will be secured by all means.
Regarding the Price, it depends on the software package that the MTSO select. We do have different packages on offer, to suit the automation needs of small/medium/large/very large MT companies.
We welcome all interested MT-companies to attend a FREE ONLINE DEMO of our software and then decide on it's cost-effectiveness.
Thanks & regards

I guess not, unless you had them custom programmed for proprietary use only or the company were selling "private label rights."
You would agree, source codes are the very sources of a company's revenue, meaning they would NOT sell it! This further means any company would go to extraordinary lengths to protect its source codes via encrypting them plus having them copyrighted.
Hope this answers your question. If you are looking for source codes that you can alter to suit your needs, why not go the "open source" route; Linux is one such open source example. Even then you can't commercialize anything you derived from an open source software. You may, however, leave it free for other's use.

Hello Indianmt, Open source (Linux) is a movement that is gaining momentum. But most of our mt industry use Windows platform, there lies the problem. We can't change our platform overnight. Are there any sites that work like open source for windows platforms?

Dear jqc,
You will not get the source code when you buy our software. But we can do the 'customizations' in the software, so that it will suit your specific requirements.
thanks binu |
